123 Challenge Play Along Entries

These are the cards I received for the 123 Challenge. Good Job Ladies. I couldn't decide which one I liked the best because they are so great. So I thought I would involve my husband, especially since he did not know whose card was whose. It was also a hard decision for him but he stepped up to the plate and finally chose one card. He really liked them all and he asked me not to ask him again, saying its just to hard to choose. Then he confessed and said "so honey which one was yours", I could tell by his voice he was worried that he had not picked mycard. I said, "well, actually none of them". His face was much more relaxed after I told him that. LOL
Congratulations Carol on your UPSY Daisy. Evan's pick.

Our First Design Team Challenge

Hi everyone -- I've been waiting to send along my new cards today until the Late Night Stampers Convention Design Team (of which I am a member) issued their first Sunday Challenge. Our challenge, should you accept it, is to "Punch Your Way to a 1-2-3 Card". You can use unlimited punches but you must only use 1 stamp set, 2 embellishments and 3 colors! It's not as easy as it first seems. Here's a couple of my cards to share today and I will have more as the week goes on. The challenge is good for the entire week so play along with us!

This card is the last card I made believe or not. It was actually the easiest for this challenge, once you got the hang of it, it was a little easier. One problem was, you could only use one stamp set so there was no sentiment with this stamp set "Holiday Line-up" therefore no sentiment. I ayer two of the Top Notes white and Bashful Blue. The two embellishments were the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and the two brads I used on one of the Snowmen. I used the same markers to color (Night of Navy & Bashful Blue) to color the image.

The second card I made used the stamp set that is a Hostess Level 3, Happiness Always. I used two of the new in colors. The Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss. Love that Kiwi Kiss. As you can see I had a sentiment in this set and I used the new large oval punch to punch it out. My two embellishments were the ribbon and the brad that attached to sentiment to the ribbon.

This card was actually the first one I made. It is a pouch type card. I used the stamp set "Season of Joy". It gave me lots of options. So my colors here were Chocolate Chip, White, and Green. Used several punches scallop circle, 1 1/4 " circle and the tab punch. Stamped the swirls in Whisper White ink and the sentiment and swirls on the inside of the card with Chocolate Chip. I was really pleased with this card. That's when the light went on and I realized that it was not such a hard challenge after all. The two embellishments were the ribbon and The Brad in the centre of the snowflake on the scallop punch. I also used the new Die cut from Stampin Up call "Top Note" for the piece of designer paper on the outside of the card.

Kirsten's Birthday

Hi Stampers:

I am getting ready to leave for Edmonton, it's my grand daughter Kirsten birthday this weekend. She doesn't know I am coming. I hope to meet her at school at the end of the day and surprise her. She will be eight and I only get to see my family occassionally thru the year. I wish we could see each other more often but everyone is busy with their lives and it is two provinces away. This picture is from last year but I love it so much. In this picture she is still growing her hair back. In February of last year she had long blonde hair. She voluntarily shaved her head for cancer victims. They use the hair to make wigs. I was so proud of her to do such a thing. My daughter and son in law also shave their heads to support her. I remember when we were in a park playing some boys came up to were she was playing and asked her why she had no hair. She just smiled and said something like " I shaved it so some one could have hair because they have cancer and I am healthy". She always wants to be in a skirt or dress but that does not stop her from doing anything from catching bugs to climbing trees.

I was packing the supplies to make a card that my daughter wanted to make for her sister in law when I realized oh my gosh, I haven't make Kirsten a birthday card yet. You know my mind went blank. Then panic set in, she is not a little girl any more meaning princesses are in the past now. It is Hanna Montana who ever she is! Well I do not have anything that closely resembles this person so this is what I came up with. The first picture is the outside of the card and the second is the inside of the card. I first learned of this technique at convention. Isn't it cool?

I used the retired set Hedgehog Happiness for the front of the card and used scraps for the layers. I watercolored the image. On the inside I punched three large circles and made the spirals then attached the bugs they are from Garden Whimsy. Kirsten loves bugs. Yuk............ thanks for looking.

Some samples from the Never Before Seen Stamps - 15% off Promotion

Snow Swirled - Regular Price $29.95 promotional price $25.46

This is a beautiful Christmas set. As you can see I made my own background with the beautiful snowflake design. The Christmas tree was stamped in Kiwi Kiss one of the new in colors and matted on Always Aritichoke. I added Dazzling Diamonds to the star bursts on the tree. Season's Greeting's was stamped in Riding Hood Red and matted on Riding Hood Red Card Stock which is also a new in color. The set also comes with a lovely Christmas sentiment verse and two more snowflakes, so you have a large, medium and small snowflake all different designs.

Upsy Daisy - Regular Price $22.95 Promotional Price $19.51

Upsy Daisy comes with 3 sentiments, Birthday Celebrations, You're on My Mind and Thank You for your friendship.

You can make the daisy all in one color or you can do several different techniques to make the image two or more tones. I have used this set with the new Big Shot die called Top Note. It makes card making so easy. The first Upsy Daisy card used Kiwi Kiss card stock, image was stamped on Very Vanilla I used Chocolate Chip ink for most of the image but use the Summer Sun marker for the flowers. On the second picture I just used Chocolate chip on White card stock and sponged Pink Pirouette ink around the stamped image.
