Goodbye Laura

Earlier this spring I was asked by Laura, a lady who lives in my Condominium Park if I would help her put a scrapbook together of her life. She went on to tell me that she had Cancer and wanted to make a album for her granddaughters. As she was telling me what she wanted I could hear her quivering voice and it was all I could do not to cry with her. I assured her that I would be there the next day and we would look at what had and I would come up with some ideas.

Once I was off of the phone I pray to God to give me guidance. Even though I was a Health Care Aide for many years and could handle many situations this was going to be a struggle for me.

We did meet and she picked out what pictures she wanted me to scrapbook and I took them home and did what I could. It is hard enough to scrapbook for yourself sometimes, never mind someone you just met and know nothing about except that she may not be here a few months from now.

Well Laura was called home and I thought I would share a few of the pages I did for her over the next few posts.

This was a photo of Laura and her two dogs, I do not know their names but it was taken in much happier times. I wanted to make journaling spots for her to write about herself and the dogs So I drew lines then cut the lines out with the Scalloped Frame Oval die but I left off the scallop part and just used the inside oval.

She wanted blues and browns so I used Chocolate Chip DSP and Bella Birds DSP both retired now. The circles were stamped with Circle Circus and punched out and the paw print is from D is For Dog.

The page itself is 8 x 8 as that was the size album she had picked out.

Here's what I used:

Stamps: Circle Circus, D is for Dog

Paper: Chocolate Chip and Bella Birds DSP, Chocolate Chip Card Stock

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Scallop Frame Oval Die from SU, Scallop Border Punch

Sorry to hear of Laura's passing. I remember your e-mail about this back in the spring and I think you shared this or a similar page with us. I look forward to seeing more of it. I know she was pleased with it and that her granddaughters are happy to have such a wonderful gift from her.
