Making My Own DSP

Hello Stamping Friends:
I have had the pleasure of my Grandson all day, he sure knows how to keep a person active. It was a beautiful day here so I spent as much time outside as I could. We have already had snow once but it was just like a day you could expect in September here.

While Ryan was busy watching his favourite TV program I went into my stamp room to do something. I was really bumbed out about the fact that I could not get anymore of the bulk DSP paper Christmas Cocoa. I had several cards in mind with that paper and I was beside myself as to what to do.

I decided that I would try to make my own and hope for a reasonable facimilie of it. As I was working on this, a email came thru from Gretchen Baron and her Weekend Challenge sketch was posted in it. What great timing for me.

So here is her card sketch:

and here is my card.

This is how I created my background to look similar to the one in the DSP. I used Soft Suede card stock. I randomly stamped the snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes all over the paper with Whisper White Craft ink. Then I embossed it with clear embossing powder. I sponged all over the card stock with Soft Suede and then wiped off the snowflakes.

I stamped the image from the stamp set Gift of Christmas in Soft Suede as well. I stamped it again and cut the dove out, sponged the edges and then applied the Champagne Shimmer Paint on the edges.

I cut the snowflakes from the Merry Moments Sizzix die and applied the Champagne Shimmer Paint to them. I think the background turned out pretty good, what do you think?

Recipe:
Stamps: Gift of Christmas, Serene Snowflakes
Ink: Soft Suede, Whisper White Craft Ink
Paper: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals, Champagne Shimmer Paint, Merry Moments Die

Your card is absolutely stunning! Very nice job. I need to play with the Shimmer Paint that I did get but haven't had time to open!
