Should have started at the Beginning

I should have started at the beginning so I am now going to do that. The following page is the first page of the book. It shows Laura around the beginning of being diagnosed with Cancer I believe. She was a very brave lady.

I used DSP from 2009's Sellabration Delicate Dots, used my nestabilities to make the journaling element and used the ticket corner punch on the picture and the mat which was Bashful Blue.


The next couple of pages were from her early childhood.





For these layouts I used Nouveau Chic because I thought it had a vintage look to it and would go well with black and white photos. I stamped the Baroque Motif flourist stamp with black ink on the paper it shows up more on the first black and white pictures than the photo of the second set.

There is something about black and white photo's everyone always looks so good in them. I guess the colored photos show all of our flaws. LOL

My Mom

Hi Stampers and Scrapbookers:



Yesterday was Mother's Day and I hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful day. I suspect, that a lot of you, also have lost your Mom's as well. I lost mine in 1999, ten years ago. I seems like yesterday. I miss her very much.


My Mom was not into cards and sentimental things as such. But today I was sitting in church and like I image, most church services all over the world, the message was on Mothers. I was starting at the Power Point image on the screen and had this special feeling come over me. The picture on the screen had this scroll/swirly think going on and I came home and decided that since I could not give my Mom a card that I would do a memory page for her.


My Mom was a beautiful lady both inside and out and while we did not always agree we always agreed to disagree. She was a very caring women. She was in the army at a young age 18 I believe. The picture I used, is of her just before she enlisted. Isn't she beautiful. Ok before the tears start let me tell you what I did. Thanks for listening so far.


This is a 8 x 8 scrapbook page. I have decided as a personal choice that my future scrapbooks are going to be this size. One of the reasons I have opted for this is that I prefer one or two pictures to a page only. The 8 x 8 piece is Blush Blossom. I inked the Baroque Motif with Chocolate Chip Craft ink and stamped it twice. Then I embossed it with clear embossing powder. Now you might ask how did I position these motifs. Well thank goodness for the stamp ma jig it made it so easy. Then I took the leave branch stamp from Great Friend found in the Occasions Mini and again using the stamp ma jig positioned them where I wanted them trying to make them look like an extension of the motif. I also embossed them with the clear embossing powder.

I stamped the Rose, and the two smaller flowers from the Fifth Avenue Floral set and the flowers from Embrace Life and used that same watercoloring technique to color them. Positioned them in the corner over the motifs.

I added my Mom's picture and layered it with a Chocolate Chip frame using my Nestabilities. Then I stamped the sentiment Three Little Words and I miss you underneath her picture. I put the dates of her life and cut that out with another Nestability. I made the little rose out of ribbon and tied it thru the openings on the tag. This was a labour of love but she deserves it. Love you Mom.

Next Mondays Card Class Sneak Peak

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been suffering with a cold. You know the runny nose etc. etc. Anyway I feel a little better today and I needed to get some cards done for my Monday card class. While they are not outstanding I think they are nice.


The first one is done using the Baroque Motifs. You can do so much with this set just by changing the colors of the flowers. I also fine it works very well on scrapbook pages.

The other card I have planned uses some retired DSP. I decided not to put a sentiment because it could be for many occasions. While I used mostly retired items I still love the color River Rock and we do have to use our previously purchased items up. This color combination could easily be changed to what ever you may have on hand new or old. I am working on not hoarding so much stuff just because I like it so much. LOL

Yesterday I attended a scrapbooking crop at a neighbouring town called Scrapagandza. We were there for 7:30 am because we wanted to get good seats. It was very cold but well worth the wait. It was good to see old friends that I have seen many times at this event.

I wanted to be completely organized for this crop, as like most scrapbookers who attend these all day events. It was important to me not to take my entire stamp/scrap room with me so I took all week preparing pages making sure I had the ribbon, the pieces cut etc. I tried to make sure that I had everything I needed and a second project just in case I was so organized that I would be finished with time left over. Well I did accomplish assembling my pages. Got out my big shot to start to make the embellishments that I wanted to put on the pages only to discover that I had not packed any card stock or scraps to do this with. What a BUMMER. I refused to purchase any card stock that may have been available as I have so many scraps that would have been perfect for what I wanted.

While at the crop I had several ladies come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed my blog and how much they look forward to seeing my new cards and projects. I was blown away, I did not realize I had such a following. Thank you ladies. I also had alot of compliments on my almost complete pages and I will share them with you once I get the embellishments on them.

So for all my slacking off this last week I am posting three pictures.

This first card is for the Late Night Stampers Challenge which is due by tonight, nothing like waiting to the last minute. LOL I used the swirl from the Baroque Motifs stamp set, stamped in Black. I stamped the outline flowers from the Sellabration set Botanical Blooms, watercolored them and cut them out. Oh, that was the other compliment I got, I was told I was the watercolor queen of the Interlake, Image that! I then randomly placed them on the swirl. I added crystal effects to the flowers and a little bit of dazzling diamonds glitter. Sponged the edges with Creamy Caramel and layered it on a piece of Kiwi Kiss followed by Night of Navy.

The next two cards are ones that I will be teaching tomorrow at the Matlock Rec Centre. The Flight of the Butterfly is a 6 1/4 by 3 1/4 card. I used Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie and Always Artichoke card stock, the DSP is also Always Artichoke and Pumpkin Pie. The ribbon is Saffron Yellow. I punch the little flowers from the three flower Stampin Up punch and used the 1/8 punch for the centers. This size card fits perfectly in the small envelopes that you can purchase almost anywhere.

The second card that we will be doing is from a retired set called Live Your Dream. I will never sell this set. It is one of my favourites. For this card I used Basic Grey as my base layer followed by Bashful Blue and second layer of the same colors going horizontally across and added three silver brads. The third layer uses Basic Grey, Bashful Blue and White. I stamped the image on the white using the Stampin Up markers. Colored the flower part again and stamped the flowers on a scrap piece of white and cut them out. I positioned them on top of the first image with a dimensional.

My Weekend of Creativity

Hi Stampers. I spent the weekend creating, well at least part of it. After typing all of this I realized that I used my stamp sets very well this weekend. I mixed and match all over the place. I also noted that I used alot of different punches. If you need more details on any of these just email me. Also if you attend some of my classes you just may find yourself making some of these cards.

I used the So Swirley Stamping Up wheel on Kiwi Kiss then took my white pen and did some outlining and dotting on the pattern. I used the Big Shot Top Note die on the White card stock stamped the Baroque Motif with Season's Greetings then added the Pointsetta's from Spotlight on Christmas.

I used Red Riding Hood Red for my base. Wheeled Whimsy on Old Olive. I used the new Baroque wheel on Close to Cocoa and layered that with White card stock that had been punched with the new scallop border punch. I cut apart a scallop circle and glued it to the Old Olive 1 3/4 circle dotted the edge of the circle with a brown marker. Then I stamped the deer from Winter Post and punched it out, sponged the edges and glued it to the Old Olive circle. I stamped the postage stamp from the same set twice once on Red Riding Hood Red and once on white and used the 1" and 1/2" punches to punch out the different sizes. Also punched out the Photo Corner with the photo corner punch and added the brads.

This card is 8 x 8 folded at 4". Used Riding Hood Red for card base. A piece of white card stock was cuttlebug embossed for texture. I stamped the images from Winter Post and layered them with Riding Hood Red added the ribbon. I put some Dazzling Diamonds just in the centre of the snow flakes and under the deer to give it a snowy feeling.

Again I used Winter Post images, can you tell I like this set? I used River Rock for my card base. Unfortunately it is a retired color but it went so well with Bravo Burgandy. I first stamped the white snowflakes on Bravo Burgandy then ran it thru the crimper. I used the Merry Christmas stamp from the Cruvey Label Punch Bundle and stamped it twice cut out the Merry Christmas and popped it up with dimensionals. The Skaters were stamped in Bravo Burgandy as well and the edges were also sponged. Added a brad from the designer series brads.

This is my favourite one from the weekend. I stamped the pointsettas from Spotlight on Christmas both in Real Red and Always Artichoke. Cut apart the Always Artichoke to make leaves. I had this branch punch so I punched out some branches to look like evergreen branches and layers them all together. I used a sentiment from All Holidays

My husband said I needed to do a Birthday card so I made this one. I used designer series paper in Bashful Blue and coordinating card stock. I stamped the Upsy Daisy stamp and birthday greeting from the same stamp set Upsy Daisy. I used the watercolor brush (Aqua Painter) and the stamp pad to lightly trace Bashful Blue around the Chocolate Chip stamped image. I used the nestablilites cutting system to make the circle and scalloped circle. I also added some dazzling diamonds to the flower tips.

Last but not least is one of my two challenge cards that I made for Challenge #7. I found this challenge very challenging in respect to the rectangle that had to be on the right hand side. The stamp set used in the first one is Wishing you Cheer, I stamped the snowmen twice. Used the snowflakes from the same set in the background. This was layer with Designer Series paper in Night of Navy. I wheeled the Snow wheel on the Night of Navy background. The Snowflake is from the Big Shot dies and it was layered with the scallop circle punch. I used one of the stamps from Christmas Classics on the rectangle which was punched out with the Tag punch.

This is the other challenge card. I used the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. The card stock and ink colors are Really Rust, Creamy Carmel and Chocolate Chip. I stamped the sentiment from the Hostess gift level one set Best yet. Punched it out with the new large oval punch and layered it on the 1 3/4" circle I added dots to the edge and sponged with Chocolate Chip ink. I made the border with one of the stamps from Essence of Life. The rectangle was stamped with the bloom stamp from Bloomin Beautiful.
