Animal Stories

Hi Everyone,

I decided to do some challenges today. This is the first one. This challenge was posted by Mary Jo Price Williams and the challenge was to use the stamp set called Animal Stories. This was a very timely challenge for me as we have a new member of our church called "Solomon". I have not seen him as yet but his parents are beautiful people and I am sure that he is just as handsome as his Dad.

I used a layout that Sandi McIvor used on one of her latest cards.

Sorry the picture quality is not very good.

My card base uses Mellow Moss and the dimensions are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The next layer uses Always Artichoke and the dimensions are 4 x 5 1/4.

The next layer uses DSP from Tall Tales and the dimensions are 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 and I sponged the edges with Mellow Moss.

The vertical panel used Crushed Curry card stock and another piece of DSP from Tall Tales.

The square uses Always Artichoke and it is 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 and the DSP is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 I added for yellow brads from the Soft Suttle brad collection.

I stamped the elephant twice and cut them out. I cut the head off the second elephant and layered it on top of the first one to give it some depth.

The tag is made up of a large oval punch of Always Artichoke and a Mellow Moss punched out of the scalloped oval punch. The sentiment was first stamped with the tree from Forest Friends in second generation ink (that is stamped first on scrap paper then stamped onto to piece you want to use). Then I stamped the Hello Baby with Chocolate Chip ink. I put Mellow Moss dots around the oval.

I placed a piece of Chocolate Chip Ribbon underneath the sentiment.

Thanks for looking.

Bren's Birthday Card

Hello again,

In honor of my daughter's birthday I made her the following card. She has her own hobby which is horses.
The card is made up of many retired items except the sentiment on the front and the motif background on the card base. This stamp set is still current and is called "No One Like You".
The horse picture is from Equestrian Dream. She really liked her card and her new horse travel mug. Hope you like it too.

Another Background

Hi friends,

I was waiting for my granddaughter to come off the bus today so while I watched out my window I played around some more with the backgrounds.

One thing I have discovered about doing these is that no two background seem to come out the same.

For the card I am sharing today I used Nature Shilouettes and the card stock was Tempting Turquoise, Black, White, Glossy Card Stock and Chocolate Chip DSP. I also made this card in a different size than most cards I make, this one is 4 1/4 x 8 1/2. It is really a nice size to work with and it still fits in a regular A2 envelope.

This is what I did on the inside of the card.

The colors I sponged on were Brilliant Blue, Regal Rose and Always Artichoke. I then sprayed with alcohol (several times) I sponged the colors more than once also in between the sprays.

Thanks for looking and leaving you kind comments.

Background Techinque

Hello again:
I really must be getting old. Time is flying by and I still am waiting for July. I seem to be so far behind that I sometimes think I will never get caught up.
Well today, actually last night I started to figure out what I wanted to share with my stamp clubs. I love to make my own backgrounds must come from quilting I figure. At Convention Joan Banman Cristo demoed a background technique. I was too busy watching to write notes, thought I could remember it all. LOL Ya for about 2 seconds maybe. Joan was kind enough to tell me again but I just could not quite get her results. But I was at least close.
So I decided to try to do it a different way. Don't even quite know how I did it except that I just kept trying using sponges instead of the brayer.
Anyway these are the samples that I will be sharing this month with my members, if you are one of them close your eyes. RIGHT NOW.
This is a tag I cut on the Big Shot, I started out as a Vanilla color. I sponged red, green and chocolate chip ink on pretty much in that order. Then I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed it with Silver SU embossing powder. Then I flicked on water to create the splotches. Messy but cool.
This one and the next one I used the brayer and glossy card stock. I have limited reinkers so I just put some color down and did my best. I tried spraying water, did not quite like it then I used rubbing alcohol and the color did move some. Again I stamped the image and embossed it.

This one was really a work of love. I was determined not to toss it out. I could not get to color to separate in small areas just a large area. However it was too pretty to leave it alone. I added some more ink tried again but not too much changed. Then I decided to use the only leaf set I have and emboss but I used clear and well it did not show very well. So then I just stamped the leaves with Chocolate chip and here it is. I must say that the embossing even though it is hard to see did make a neat look and feel.

The next card was to show how you can take a piece of scrapbooking paper that you perhaps don't quite like but by adding color with sponges you can distress it to suit your needs. The paper was beige with some kind of design that I did not happen to fancy.

I am Back

Hi Stamping Friends,

I can't believe where summer has gone. One day it was July the next it was September. Kinda like the weather. We are finally having summer here in Manitoba.
I have had so much fun with my grandkids since they moved here. I have also been busy fixing up my class stamping space.

I have not been doing much stamping till today, Beate Johns shared a card today and I fell in love with the lacy flower she had on her card. She had used a Nestabilitie die cut plate but I do not have that and thought I could improvise by using the Lacy Border SU punch. I punched a 1 1/4" by 11" piece of white card stock, then I put it through the crimper so that I could shape it into a circle. I punched a 1 3/4" circle out of some scraps to adhere this lacy circle to. The card itself is a Gate Fold card.

This is the inside of the card.

Recipe:
